Roxio`s site as well as many on the net are continuing to change daily, update, move, merge, etc... Keeping the links active is difficult and many of the articles I have here are for the earlier versions of the software. I will keep them listed for archive purposes, if you find dead links, my apologies but more than likely they are gone for good. |

Easy CD Creator 5.x
Easy CD Creator 4.0x
This information applies to the following operating system (s):
Windows 95
Windows NT 4
Windows 98
Windows 2000
Windows ME
Windows XP
Answer
How to add audio to a Photo Relay slide show:
1.) Open photo relay
a. Go to "Start" then to "Programs" to "Roxio Easy CD Creator
5" and select "Project Selector"
b. Move your mouse over "make Photo or Video CD" and then select "Photo
Album"
2.) Select slides by clicking the "Add" button (icon of book w/green arrow)
3.) Save layout by clicking "Save" button (icon of floppy diskette)
4.) Create slide show by clicking "Make Slide Show" button (icon of cd and
slide.)
5.) Add slides by choosing individual slide then the "Add" button or click the
"Add All" button then click "Next"
6.) Choose play single audio file then click "Browse" and select you mp3 or wav
file and click next.
7.) Choose "Copy slide show to disk" and give you slide show a name. (Insert
blank disk)
8.) Your slide show should now record to disk
If you choose to save slide shows to hard disk you can burn them using cd data project.
Note: The procedure above is to add a single sound track for the whole duration of the
slide show. It is important to prepare your audio file prior to the creation of your slide
show. The length of your audio file, will determine the length of the total slide show.
Example: A 5-minute wave file added to a slide show with 5 slides, will automatically
adjust the total time to 5 minutes, one minute per slide.
You can also add single .WAV or MP3 files to individual slides. Before saving the slide
show
(step 3), right click on a thumbnail and choose attach audio file, then browse for you
file of choice. Note: adding audio using this method will play out the entire .WAV or MP3
file and change to the next slide once it has finished. This method is mainly for adding
narration.
For Easy CD Creator 5 users, please go to the Roxio website www.Roxio.com and download
photo_up.exe this patch is essential if adding audio.

46-0-3: WARNING: Reservation conflict
... drive cannot ... being used by Roxio DirectCD (020214-000001)
Question
WARNING: Reservation conflict. This drive cannot be used because it is already being used
by "Roxio DirectCD Kernel".
This information applies to the following product(s):
- Easy CD Creator 3.0x
- Easy CD Creator 4.0x
- Easy CD Creator 5.0x
This information applies to the following Operating System(s):
- Windows 95
- Windows NT 4
- Windows 98
- Windows 2000
- Windows ME
- Windows XP
Answer
It possible that our software does not recognize your drive because one of our own
programs is already using it. Direct CD and Take Two use formatted disks, Easy CD Creator,
All CD Projects, Sound Stream, CD (Disk) Copier, and Video CD all need blank unformatted
Disks.
If Direct CD has a formatted disk and is using it, and you:
1. Try to use any of the CD Projects (Music, Data, or MP3) you will receive a message that
states: "WARNING: Reservation conflict. This drive cannot be used because it is
already being used by "Roxio DirectCD Kernel"."
2. Try to burn a disk using Sound Stream you will receive a message that states: "No
CD-Recorders were found."
3. Try and copy a CD with CD copier you may see your CD/DVD-Recorder listed as "Not
Accessible!"
In all instances you should remove the formatted CD-R/RW (or DVD R/RW) and insert a BLANK
(unformatted/new) disk.
If you are not using a Direct CD formatted disk and receive any of these this messages
(Including trying to use Direct CD and it says that the Drive is in Use) it indicates a
component of our software did not get installed correctly. This can occur in Windows 2000
or XP. To correct this you should uninstall the software and clean out the upper and lower
filters as described in ASK article 000505-000000: http://ask.roxio.com/cgi-bin/roxio_tic.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_refno=000505-000000

Cause
A 2355 error occurs when the install progress barometer begins to run backwards. Files
left behind from previously install recording software are one of the causes.
Resolution
1. Uninstall ALL CD Burning software through Add/Remove Programs, including previous
versions of Easy CD Creator, or Third-Party CD Burning software that may have come with
your recorder.
2. Before rebooting, perform a find files/folder on the following files, making sure to
search on the hard drive where the Operating System was installed, and change the file

- Cdr4vsd.sys
- Cdr4dll.dll
- Cdral.dll
- Cdrtc.dll
3. Go to C:\Program Files and remove the Adaptec folder. Go to Windows Explorer and open
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Install Shield and move the 2 folders to your recycle bin.

Roxio Knowledge Base Article - EEZ000128
How to use JPG files in a DVD player
The information in this article applies to: Easy CD Creator 5.x
On the following Operating Systems: Windows 95
Windows NT
Windows 98
Windows 2000
Windows ME
Windows XP
Issue
How to use JPG files in a DVD player
Cause
Resolution
To convert your JPG files so that they will play on a DVD player, you will need to make
them into a MPG1 file and then burn them onto a video disk.
Easy CD Creator uses MPEG 1 White book standard for creating VCD. Some other burning
software will use other standards.
To insure that you have the proper mpg file, you can follow these steps:
1. Open video impressions
2. Click on the New button
3. Click on the Get button and browse to your jpg files. Open the ones you want to add to
the slide show.
4. Click on the thumbnail of you jpg so it is outlined in red.
5. Click on Add to Storyboard. Continue this process so that all the photos you want are
added.
6. Click on Play Movie
7. Click on Write
8. Click on Open Video CD Creator (second bullet from the top) and make sure that you are
using
NTSC (not PAL).
9. Click Start
When it finishes converting, Video CD Creator will open. At this time, click on the Record
button and record the cd.

46-0-7: Video CD's don't play on DVD player EEZ000092
Roxio Knowledge Base Article - EEZ000092
Video CD's don't play on DVD player
The information in this article applies to: Easy CD Creator Platinum 5.02x
On the following Operating Systems: Windows 95
Windows 98
Windows NT 4
Windows ME
Windows 2000
Windows XP
Issue
My VCD will not play in my DVD player.
Cause
Resolution
In order for a Video CD created with one MPEG-1 file to be readable on a DVD player, there
must be at least 2 tracks created on the CD. If two MPEG-1 files were used, the Video CD
should have 3 tracks, and so on. You can verify the number of tracks within Easy CD
Creator's Data project.
1.) Insert your Video CD which was created with Video CD Creator into you cd burner
2.) Launch the project selector and choose "Make a Data CD" then click
"Data CD Project"
3.) Once an "Untitled Data CD-Project Easy CD Creator" Window opens, click
"CD" on the menu bar and choose "CD Information"
4.) Under the Track field there should be at least 2 tracks listed in order for your VCD
to play on a DVD player.
If there is only 1 track listed here then there were some problems during the record
process and the Video CD will not play on a DVD player. This problem seems to be specific
to version 5.02d.
Please refer to:
http://www.roxio.com/en/support/roxio_support/ecdc/ecdc_software_updatesv5.jhtml
for update patches.
If there are 2 or more tracks listed here (depending on the number of MPEG-1 files used)
Then the VCD was recorded successfully. If this VCD is not playable the problem is most
likely with the DVD player. Please insure that your DVD is compatible with Video CD's and
supports CDR/RW media. (Refer to your DVD player's manual)
